Matthew McConaughey has launched a new off-grid cabin for Unyoked, and you’re gonna want to add it to your eco travel bucket list.
Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey has teamed up with Aussie start-up Unyoked to design and build an exclusive off-grid cabin experience on the Central Coast of NSW, with a portion of bookings donated to the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife.
Unyoked already has 12 tiny cabins in NSW and Victoria, and the opening of this one will be their biggest production yet.
For those unaware, McConaughey is the creative director for the bourbon brand Wild Turkey and has helped design the rustic cabin accordingly as part of Wild Turkey’s With Thanks campaign. In the past, the campaign was initiated to help firefighters tackling blazes across California and has now branched to help Australia in its current state of emergency.
Devastating bushfires have torn through NSW and various parts of Australia over the past few weeks – devastating bushland and the habitats of local wildlife. The partnership will help aid the recovery and rehabilitation of native flora and fauna that is demolished by the NSW bushfires.
Not only will all proceeds from the brand new cabin be donated to the organisation, $1 from every bottle of Wild Turkey Longreach will also be donated.
This is a great excuse for your next getaway, because not only will you be offsetting your carbon footprint while travelling to this completely solar powered, sustainably built cabin with no wi-fi, you’ll also be helping a great cause in doing so.
McConaughey fans will also be blessed with a special touch in the cabin from the actor himself – a smorgasbord of his favourite music, vintage literature and booze. Prepare to go back to the good ol’ days listening to cassette tapes, soaking in the likes of American country and folk music such as Bob Dylan while you read like a poet and sip like you’re in the NSW Buyer’s Club.
Reservations for bookings to The Reserve by Wild Turkey X Unyoked Cabin haven’t opened yet, but you can be sure they’ll get snapped up fast when they do. The unique cabin is set to pop up on the Central Coast of NSW early December, just in time for a Christmas getaway. Hint hint, nudge nudge.
Stay tuned on the Unyoked website for updates.
