What’s On In Sydney This June

In a city gripped by the winter chills, you’ll be forgiven for not wanting to trade the couch for the outdoors. But when you live in a city like Sydney, the cooler months are when the entertainment and culture scene comes alive, so your excuses just won’t fly.

We have collated 10 must-see events taking place in Sydney for the month of June, with something to suit every palette – yes, food and wine is involved!

Conversation Starters: Temperature Rising

In its third year, Conversation Starters is an annual event that makes space for urgent issues to be explored creatively and accessibly with a diverse range of people. This year the subject ‘Temperature Rising’ calls for participants to stand together and understand how each of us is entangled in climate change and how we can be part of a positive shift, individually and collectively. It is running over two days and includes talks, performances, workshops, film screenings and special events to take part in.

A Gender For Change: Junkee Media’s 2019 Youth Research

Believe it or not, the eldest of us millennials are moving towards middle age, and baby boomers have begun retiring, so how will we attempt to run a world that is predicted to become climatically uninhabitable by 2040? Covering topics ranging from sustainability, diversity, politics, wellness and ethics, this light-hearted and insightful panel discussion aims to provide insight into what the year 2040 could look like when millennials lead the economy and consumer culture, influencing the way we everyone lives.

THRONES! The Musical Parody

Possibly the greatest television series of our generation, Game of Thrones (GOT) is coming to the Sydney Opera House as a musical parody. Indies and Idols

A must-see event for any eclectic music loving millennial, Indies and Idols showcases singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead’s lead guitarist (and keyboard player) Jonny Greenwood and The National’s guitarist Bryce Dessner, joining forces with the source of their inspiration, Polish nationalists Karol Szymanowski and Witold Lutosławski.
